Algae: Few individuals realize the value of algae and the history and size of the market. Algae are the fastest growing, highest protein plant living on this earth. Over 320,000 species exist and its origins are 3.6 billion years old.  Algae have been used as food in Egypt, Asia and Africa for over 2000 years. The Japanese incorporate 70 different species of micro and macro algae in their diet.  Today, algae are used extensively in neutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals and more. There are currently 30 species that are used in industry. The algae industry within the U.S. market for pharmaceuticals, neutraceuticals, and food is a $122 Billion Industry. $400 billion globally.
